From Office to Off"ice"

June 2007
Would you like to go work at Papua?
Absolutely!

As a fresh graduated, a field position would be great opportunity to learn firsthand what is really required to start up and carry out the day to day business on mining project. I clearly remember a foggy (every) day at the mountain, cold weather (for us who live at tropical region), less than normal oxygen around, working in dark underground mine, wake up early in the morning and not going home till dark. In 3.5 years I had ‘tasted’ multiple positions from the planner, project engineer and engineering foreman, 3.5 years? It wasn’t long journey!

December 2010
Would you like to try ‘oversea experience’ at Canada?
Why not?

Frankly speaking, firstly I was afraid, but my curiosity about work oversea helps me out! I made it, I worked with multicultural people, and I passed what they called both cultural and technology shock. Work smart during weekdays and play hard on the weekend looks like a good balance, eh?
(+30), (+ 5), (-35) degree of Celsius - ups I mean summer, autumn and winter experience made me enjoyed my journey here. Three different extreme projects made me confident enough to face my next ‘challenging’ project here, but wait until next paragraph.......

January 2012 (which is this morning)
You want me to go to – Oyu Tolgoi (Gobi Desert)? (Could I even spell that correctly?)
hmm sounds interesting!

I checked to map to truly grasp where I gonna head to this time. A picturesque countryside, Mongolia is nestled between China and Russia with majestic desert, steppe and less SNOW! Right on, less snow doesn’t mean warmer (-40 is not that cold for them). Well – I was excited with my next adventure destination, even for couple months only, though. I can’t tell you more than this, but sure I will later on. The thing that I only know right now is I will leave my comfortable 8x10 ft cubical for couple months, from winter office to winter off"ice" :)

These project has been great opportunities for me to grow both from career standpoint and personally. More importantly, I’ve had a chance to work with interesting people – people whom I now call my friends :D

I'll (not) be home for 2010 New Year

Well, it's not really wise to waste your time posting on a blog while you have a huge task for making smooth transition end and new year. But people, I am bored. So here I am, typing this litle nonsense, hehehe...

I just read a blog, asking 7 places you'd rather be right now, then suddenly my mind flies to a place, the most wanted place I would go now. My home.
This is the first day of year 2010, this is also the seventh time I spend new year's eve far away from my homeland. Homesick, I am trying to figure out what you're guys doing over there.

So hopefully I can do better this new year, not just for myself but hopefully for others. There are some hope that I silently whisper in my pray, but no matter how everything will turn out, I will try to believe You more. I know it's going to be hard, but a long journey should be started with one single step!!!

Why going home for good? Said some people. The opportunity is better for you outside. Said the other. Yeah, I know that's all true :) This place is never be a complete home for me :) I enjoy living here, earn some bucks, having lots of fun. But I miss my home so much, the whole family.

Me and my desk on the 1st day 2010 new year.

View Pagi Ini

No more trying.

Ingat sebuah kejadian pahit. in disguise" ? Menurut hasil googling, blessing in disguise = a good thing that you don't recognize at first. But as I person who never feel satisfied, saya masih saja bertanya-tanya, kok jalannya musti gitu ya. I really thank God for my succeed, but it doesn't stop me thinking "Kenapa saya tidak boleh mendapatkan dua hal yang bagus instead of satu kegagalan dan satu keberhasilan :) ?

hows royn see the life?

When we were not even ten years old, we looked at the world with amazement.

Grown up people looked weird and whatever they did seemed strange for us. We had our joyful and playful world.

When we were teens, we were confused with all the changing. Our body changed, they way we think changed, the world seemed so confusing. We tried to deal with that, but failed a lot. We weren't a kid anymore, but not yet an adult. So many times I argued with my dad and mom moreover my sister. they didn't like my behavior at that time; they always asked me, where did you go royn, with whom, what for etc etc.. I just couldn't understand why only school matters for them.

When we were twenties, we stood up bravely. We wanted to conquer the world. Everything looked perfect, or would be perfect. People come and go, friends, girls friend, fans, co-workers. But did it bother us? We were young. We thought we had limitless energy and endless future. I was busy with college and study-load, lots of activities, project, and later on trying to have a good career. Everything must work as I wanted, coz I am aries boy, what does it mean? It means I try to reach what I really want with all the way out. And… currently I fight out with the cold Cartenz mountain everyday…..Meanwhile, not everything came as we wanted. Career wasn't as promising as before, love life wasn't any better. We tried to put all pieces together, but we didn't always find the answer.

Someday I will be thirties, forties, fifties, until our last breath ... and maybe, I will continue this posting to see how I see the world at that time ;)
